Sebastian Frank
Chef at Horváth** (Berlin, Germany)

Frank's introspective cuisine is closely linked to his childhood memories and the stews and products of his native Austria, and his cooking is highly emotional.
An Austrian by birth, Sebastian Frank knew at the age of 13 that cooking was his vocation, and his career led him to work at the Steirereck (Vienna) Heinz Reitbauer Jr, the best restaurant in Austria. A few years later, he worked as sous-chef at the renowned Interalpen Hotel Tyrol under the culinary direction of Christoph Zangerl.
The chef admits that he is a little different from other chefs who travel and soak up new cultures. He has always been in Austria, except when he moved to Berlin, where his wife Jeannine is from. In the German capital, he became chef at the legendary Horváth and within a year had won his first Michelin star. In 2013 he and his wife became the owners of the restaurant, in 2015 they won their second star and in 2017 he was hailed as Berlin's best chef.
Since 2016, Sebastian and Jeannine have been co-initiators of the non-profit organisation 'Die Gemeinschaft', which is committed to the responsible and sustainable treatment of food and its producers.
